The desktop app is baff.gg in its own window. It waits in your tray with a dot when something's unread, and push to talk keeps working while you're in another app. New features reach it the day they ship on the website.

On your phone

There's no app store version yet. Added to your home screen, baff.gg opens full screen like an app, and it can send you notifications for DMs and mentions.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open baff.gg in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button.
  3. Scroll down, tap Add to Home Screen, then tap Add.

Notifications need iOS 16.4 or newer, and only work from the home screen icon.

Android

  1. Open baff.gg in Chrome.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top corner.
  3. Tap Install app or Add to Home screen.

Allow notifications when baff.gg asks, or turn them on later in User Settings.

The Android robot is reproduced or modified from work created and shared by Google and used according to terms described in the Creative Commons 3.0 Attribution License.

If your computer warns you

The installers aren't code-signed yet, so Windows and macOS show a warning the first time you open them. This is how to get past it.

Windows

If you see “Windows protected your PC”, click More info, then Run anyway. The .exe installer sets baff.gg up for your account only, so it doesn't ask for admin rights, and adds it to the Start menu.

macOS

Open the .dmg and drag baff.gg into Applications. The first time, Control-click the app, choose Open, then Open again.

On macOS 15 Sequoia and newer that shortcut is gone. Try to open the app once, then go to System Settings > Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

Linux

Install the package for your distribution from the folder you downloaded it to:

sudo apt install ./baff.gg_1.4.0_amd64.deb

sudo dnf install ./baff.gg-1.4.0.x86_64.rpm

The AppImage needs no install. Make it executable with chmod +x baff.gg-1.4.0-x86_64.AppImage, then run it.
