Where Discord is ahead
- It has been around since 2015. It is far bigger and more polished, and your friends are probably already on it.
- Real apps in the App Store and Google Play, including screen sharing from iPhone and iPad.
- End-to-end encryption for voice and video calls.
- Bigger uploads on the free plan (20 MB against baff.gg’s 10 MB before boosts), and up to 1 GB with Nitro.
- Thousands of ready-made bots, plus extras like Activities that baff.gg doesn’t have.
- baff.gg is in alpha, made by a very small team, and things still change often.
Where baff.gg is ahead
Nothing is held back for a subscription. Screen share at 60 FPS, emoji and stickers from any server you’re in, animated avatars, banners and per-server profiles are on for everyone, and every account brings two free boosts to the servers it likes. If you run a Discord server, Migrate a Server copies its setup over in a few minutes.
Questions people ask
- Is baff.gg better than Discord?
- It depends on what you need. baff.gg gives everyone what Discord sells in Nitro, like 60 FPS screen share and emoji from any server, for free. Discord is much bigger and older, has phone apps in the app stores and end-to-end encrypted calls.
- How much does Discord Nitro cost?
- In the US, Nitro Basic is $2.99 a month and Nitro is $9.99 a month (checked October 2026). Prices vary by country. baff.gg has no paid plan.
- Why are baff.gg uploads smaller than Discord’s?
- Files cost the most to store, so baff.gg starts at 10 MB per file and raises it to 50 MB and 100 MB when a server is boosted. Boosts are free: every account has two.
- Can I use baff.gg and Discord at the same time?
- Yes. Migrating a server copies it and leaves your Discord server as it was, so you can try baff.gg with your friends before deciding anything.
